In the 1970s, Japan hosted many music video screenings sponsored by record companies. At the time, Chrysalis Records was distributed by Toshiba EMI. (“Mental Notes” were released by King Records in March 1977, after which Chrysalis moved to Toshiba EMI.)
This is an excerpt from a compilation video (of sorts). The information from here on is based solely on my own speculation and is not necessarily reliable. Given the origins of the other songs on this compilation (eg: Cockney Rebel, Sparks, Silverhead, Roy Wood, ELO, Blondie, Chris Spedding, Mud, etc.), I imagine this video was used from one of video screening by Toshiba EMI.
Each track begins with Mental Notes album cover. There’s nothing particularly special about them except it. But still, I hope you enjoy this with “old fashioned” video quality.
…and I can’t help but imagine what “Dizrythmia” could have been released by Toshiba EMI…?
